RUDY STEVENSON BAND this week at ULTRALOUNGE, Berlin

RudyStevensonBand.jpgRudy Stevenson was producer and manager at the broadway. Rudy wrote songs for Nina Simone, George Benson, Joe Zawinul, Herbie Mann or Dexter Gordon. He does not say a word about it.

I just do music! That’s my job!,
says the legendary and in the meantime 84-young guitarist.

He was performing with the Lloyd Price Band, with the Fifthdimensions, in the Apollo theatre in New York and of course with the Duke Ellington Orchestra!

Nina Simone hired him. He took part on the world-hit “My Baby just cares for me”. Nine albums he recorded with Simone.

1988 he came to Berlin together with Andre Heller. Before he was already in town: three months he played in the “Theater des Westens” in the Brodway musical “Bubbling Brown Sugar”.

Today an excellent singer is performing in the Rudy Stevenson Band. You have to look around him!

For Craig Burton from St. Louis, Missouri Rudy writes arrangements from songs of Ray Charles, Otis Redding, Lou Rawls, Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Al Green and others.

The programme is dedicated to these great soul legends.
