PER KIRKEBY: Exhibition in Kiel 2006

KunstDaenemark.jpgNext Friday, October, 6, an exhibition has its opening at "Kunsthalle Kiel", Germany, we recomment absolutely! One of the most influential and important artists from Scandinavia is presented by a cross-section of his work.

PER KIRKEBY is artist and nature scientist in one person. His central subjects are about nature, not in the realistic sense, but "in big movements" and "with great feeling", says Kirkeby, that are organized from the inside. Doing this, he applies abstract compositions like "Laes", a painting, that caused on the island of the same name, where Kirkeby spend his time in the summer.

The colours constitute the form, in Kirkeby's mind they are like a dynamic stream. This interaction from surface structure, transparency, density and green shades makes the uniqueness of PER KIRKEBY.

His works are represented by the most eminent art museums of the world, like for instance the Louisiana Museum, Humblebaeck | Stedilijk Museum, Eindhoven, Netherlands | Musée des Beau Arts, Brussels, Belgium | Tate Gallery, London, UK | Folkwang Museum, Essen, Germany | Ludwig Museum, Cologne, Germany | Musée des Beau Arts de la Ville, Paris, France.

The exhibition in Kiel, Germany showcase, that Kirkeby is one of the most important artists of the 20th century - for questions like stylistic inconsistency and quotation, figuration and abstraction, series and variation - they all play an outstanding role in the art of PER KIRKEBY. Therefore a concentration of his work of sculptures and paintings will be presented.

On the opening day of the exhibition one of the best saxophonists of Denmark is performing! FREDRIK LUNDIN and his group SOUND OF CHOICE with Lars Guul, drums and electronics and Hasse Poulsen, guitar will play musical textures in an unconventional manner, enclosing the works of Kirkeby with their sound vision, perfectly.
