ALMA in Berlin

Alma.jpgALMA is one of the most successful and extraordinary theatre productions from Austria.
An interactive piece and exclusive party, celebrating the eventful life of Alma Maria Schindler.


She were married with Gustav Mahler, Walter Gropius and Franz Werfel and had diverse affaires with famous artists.

The piece, first showed 1996 at the "Wiener Festwochen" and 1999 used by movies, is already cult.

There are fans, that have seen ALMA more than 12 times, the biggest ALMA maniac saw 73 performances. 6 summer long the famous sanatorium Purkersdorf near Vienna was the place of the production in 140 sold-out performances.

ALMA in Berlin:

Now ALMA comes to Berlin, another station in the life of Alma Werfel and the place, were she lives with Walter Gropius in the so-called "Golden Twenties".
With the "Kronprinzen-Palais" at the boulevard Unter den Linden, ALMA found the ideal place.
In between the war times of the 20th century the Palais was the first museum for contemporary art and had a tremendous influence in the foundation of the MoMA in New York. All painters of expressionism were represented here, among them the works of Oskar Kokoschka, who was Alma's lover.

In the "Staatsoper" nearby Alban Berg's "Woyzeck" had its premiere in 1925, an opera dedicated to "Femme Fatale" Alma.
Outside at the "Opernplatz" the nazis burned the books of Franz Werfel in 1933.

The interactive journey through the life of the artists muse Alma Mahler-Werfel will have its Berlin premiere on April, 21st, 2006 in the "Kronprinzen-Palais", Unter den Linden 3, subway station "Franzoesische Strasse".

More than one month, till May, 27th the performances take place daily from 8 p.m.

The audience choose between places and actors and put together his own, very personal piece of theatre. And he gets a complete dinner also.
